Genesis 22:3 “And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up and went unto the place of which God had told him.”
As a matter of fact, the bible describes those that fail to plan and prepare as foolish people. Hear this:
Matthew 25:1 “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.”
Matthew 25:2 “And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
Matthew 25:3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:”
Matthew 25:4 “But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.”
Here, Jesus likens the kingdom of heaven to preparation. He shows us ten virgins. He calls the prepared ones wise and the unprepared foolish.
The interesting part of this story is that they were all virgins, meaning they were all born again. But the issue is that even though we are believers, God still expects us to always make preparations. Being born again is not an excuse for laxity in planning.
Any man that fails to plan ahead must definitely be foolish. In the concluding part of this story, we actually see how their lack of preparation robbed them of a very important meeting with the King of kings, Jesus Christ himself.
Matthew 25:10 “And while they went to buy the bridegroom came and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut”
Matthew 25:11 “Afterward came also the other virgins, saying Lord, Lord, open to us.”
Matthew 25:12 “But he answered and said Verily I say unto you, I know you not.”
Jesus shows us here that anyone who fails to prepare has no part in him.
Abraham made preparations and provisions for everything that would ensure his trip was successful.
