Adequate preparation-2
Genesis 22:3 “And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up and went unto the place of which God had told him.”
…From yesterday…
God is a great strategist, he makes plans and prepares that is why nothing takes him by surprise.
I saw this principle severally in the journey of the children of Israel from Egypt to the Promised Land.
One thing that surprised me when they got to the banks of the red sea was what God said to Moses:
Exodus 14:15 “And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward”
Exodus 14:16 “But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.”
I studied this statement carefully and discovered something very interesting. The first thing I noticed was that this statement was that of a composed and organized personality. It was the statement of One with plan B.
God asked Moses to tell them “to go forward”, there was the roaring red sea ahead of them and the Egyptian army behind them and the children of Israel were crying. Moses also cried to God and He said tell them to go forward. Go forward to where? To go and drown?
That looked like suicide to me until I studied verse 16 carefully. Here God said to Moses amongst other things,”…and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it…”
I did a careful study of the word divide and discovered that some of the meanings include, “rip or open” or “cut asunder” and “reveal”.
The question is rip open or cut asunder to reveal what? The answer is in that same verse, it means to reveal, “a dry ground through the midst of the sea”.
To be continued…
