SACRIFICING ISAAC
Step up
Genesis 22:2 “And he said Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”
Have you ever wondered why the use of the word “offering” especially when you’re expected to drop money in church?
What I am about to show you will change your giving life forever; fasten your seat belt.
Why the word offering?
The word offering as used here is a Hebrew word meaning; grow (over) increase, leap, lift (self) up, mount up, raise, recover, restore, step up, elevate or stairway! Can you beat that?
Friend, offering is one of the most powerful ways of taking a man up or elevating him. Once you can understand this mystery you are made.
A call to sow a seed or drop an offering is an invitation to take a stairway into increase. Offering never reduces a man; it can only take him up.
People of the world believe that for you to increase or accumulate a fortune, you must hold on to what you’ve got. Never let go of what is in your hands and the more you add to it the more it grows; but that is completely opposite of the operations of the kingdom.
In the kingdom, when you want to amass wealth you let go of what is in your hand. The more you release the wealthier you become. Hear King Solomon:
Proverbs 11:24 “There is that scattereth and yet increaseth and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.”
That is the principle of increase. Scatter so that you can gather!
So when God told Abraham to go sacrifice or give Isaac as an offering, God was simply giving an invitation to Abraham to step up. He was saying, “Abraham climb the stairway that leads to abundant wealth and unlimited prosperity.”
Abraham knew that offering don’t reduce a man; it elevates him!
