Genesis 22:2 “And he said Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”
The word Moriah is a Hebrew word which means “Chosen by Jehovah” or “Visions”.
The first lesson I learnt from here is that you don’t just get an offering, let God show you where to sow it. God told Abraham to get set an offering which would be sown in a place where he would show him.
Giving an offering is a serious business, as far as God is concerned, and it must be done strictly on God’s terms. God chose the offering and didn’t stop there; he determined the location as well.
The reason many sow without harvest is the condition of the land. If God determines the harvest, he must determine the soil as well. Abraham was a man who loved to follow instruction and who paid attention to details. Friend, in dealing with God, be a man of details. Get all the necessary details and let God guide your every step.
Your seed is precious and must be sown at the correct place and soil.
Another lesson I learnt from Moriah is the power of vision. When God told Abraham about Moriah, he already had a vision for the future.
Abraham had a vision of dominating the whole world and expanding his influence through Isaac, according to the promise God had earlier made to him:
Genesis 13:16 “And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, [then] shall thy seed also be numbered.”
Abraham had this vision as motivation to sow his precious seed. Friend, what vision are you seeing for your seed or future?
Seeds represent the future. Mike Murdock said, “Your seed is the only influence you have over your future”. If so, you need to handle it with utmost care.
