Genesis 22:2 “And he said Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.”
…From yesterday…
Friend, David was called a man after God’s own heart and Abraham was called the friend of God. One thing that won them those titles was their disposition towards the things of God.
Our relationship with God is not an ordinary one. It is a covenant relationship. Covenant is a force and an agreement ratified by blood. The major thing that happens in a covenant is what we call “an exchange”. This exchange means NO RESTRICTION. It means whatever one party has belongs to the other and vice versa.
It means everything they own at the time of making the covenant belongs to each party in the agreement. No party can and should deny the other whatever they ask for. Abraham understood this very well and He knows God knows it too. So when God made this demand, he knew very well the implication.
Abraham understood the game. Guess what? Abraham knew that if he could give God his only begotten son, God had no choice but to release His own begotten Son as well! It was a covenant relationship.
Abraham was ready to sacrifice his only begotten son so that he could save humanity. Abraham placed a demand on heaven to send JESUS! At that junction the obedience of Abraham literally put heaven under pressure to give humanity Jesus Christ.
Offering God your best puts Him under pressure to give you his best; it is as simple as that. So when next you want something from God, be ready for his demands as well. It’s all about covenant.
God placed a demand on Abraham and he didn’t debate or negotiate; he stood up and heeded the call!
Beloved, what is your best possession? What is that thing you love most? Can God ask for it?
Know this; whatever you cannot release to God has become your god!
To be continued…
