Beyond the Tower of Bethel and Edar-9
Genesis 35: 21 “And Israel journeyed and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.”

I love this man called Jacob or Isreal so much. In spite of his previous achievements he kept going.
Genesis 35: 21 “And Israel journeyed and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.”
Until Jacob moved beyond Edar, he couldn’t spread. Until he arrived at Ephrath enlargement was impossible. Friend, God is saying you should spread and expand beyond Bethel and Edar.
Here is something to note: there will always be an Ephrath ahead of you if you are a progressive thinker. Ephrath means success, but you must realize that success is a journey and not a destination. As long as we are here on this side of eternity, we must keep making progress! Hear this about our covenant fathers:
Hebrews 11: 14 “For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.”
Hebrews 11: 15 “And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out they might have HAD OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE RETURNED”
Hebrews 11: 16 “But now they DESIRE a BETTER COUNTRY, that is an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.”
These folks never stopped looking ahead to Ephrath. Their desire was always towards a better country. They never for once rested on their oars. Hebrews 11:33 tells us about a man like David who “…stopped the mouths of lions”.
He didn’t stop there, he went ahead to stop Goliath. He moved on to the throne; he stopped Goliath’s three brothers and the Philistines. He kept making progress, always looking for “a better country”.
Men such as David had opportunities to return to “Bethel and Edar” (Hebrews 11:15), but they didn’t, they kept moving.
Beloved, what monument is preventing you from breaking through?
Another name for Ephrath is Bethlehem. Bethlehem means house of bread or a place of abundance. Bethlehem was also the birthplace of our Saviour Jesus Christ.
Beloved, your salvation lies at Bethlehem! Selah.
