Beyond the Tower of Bethel and Edar-6

Beyond the Tower of Bethel and Edar-6
Genesis 35: 21 “And Israel journeyed and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.”
…From yesterday…
I am always afraid of men who are quick to flash their certificates of achievements of fifteen or twenty years ago. Some even try to oppress others with the achievements of their forefathers. They brag about their past victory as if it just happened yesterday.
I have since discovered that the man whose yesterday’s achievement still looks to him like his best is certainly not doing much today. He has “tabernacle” at Bethel!
Here is a lesson from Jacob: “MAKE PROGRESS”. There is always something better beyond Bethel. Bethel should not be your last bus stop; even God did not stop at Bethel!
Genesis 35: 3 “And God WENT UP FROM HIM IN THE PLACE WHERE HE TALKED with him.”
Genesis 35: 14 “And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.”
Genesis 35: 15 “And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, BETHEL.”
God moved on from Bethel; Jacob too moved on. Jacob understood the dynamism of the things of the spirit. He knew that the plan of God is always progress.
Proverbs 4: 18 “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
If God is not stagnant, why should you? That you have achieved a feat that no one else has shouldn’t make you cocky. That record you set and relaxed will soon be broken, no matter what. It might be long, but another man will come and break it. As long as you are still breathing you must keep on keeping on. Don’t rest on your oars.
To be continued…
