Beyond the Tower of Bethel and Edar-2

Beyond the Tower of Bethel and Edar-2
Genesis 35: 21 “And Israel journeyed and spread his tent beyond the tower of Edar.”
…From yesterday…
People have used Towers over the years as monuments. Monuments are used for two primary purposes, to stand as a memorial in remembrance of the dead, especially dead war heroes or as a remembrance of a successful feat or ground breaking achievement.
In other words, it is used to remember “sadness” or “happiness”. Each time you see a monument, it definitely reminds you of something in history, either good or bad. Such remembrance either makes you weep or smile.
Now, let’s get back to our focal scripture. In our focal scripture, we are told that Jacob journeyed and moved beyond the Tower of Edar.
Before he got to Edar, there were two events that made him to build towers. The first one was:
Genesis 35: 14 “And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon.”
Genesis 35: 9 “And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padanaram, and blessed him.”
Genesis 35: 13 “And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him.”
Genesis 35: 15 “And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel.”
Genesis 35: 16 “And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed and she had hard labour”
Just before Ephrath was a place called Bethel. At Bethel, God appeared to Jacob and they had a wonderful discussion together. God assured him of the promises he made to him:
Genesis 35: 11 “And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins;”
Jacob was excited and he built a pillar or setup a monument at Bethel where God appeared to him.
