I see seven character traits in David that made him to be recommended for the palace. These are qualities kings are searching for and these qualities are found in the life of every genuine problem solver that knows his or her onions well.
Take note that in 1 Samuel 16:17, Saul stated the quality he wanted in his problem solver, just one, that is; a man that can play music well.
All Saul wanted was a man that can use music to cast out the demon that is worrying him, he just needed a man to solve his immediate problem but guess what? They told him of David.
David had the capacity to play music well and he is anointed enough to send the evil spirit packing, but beyond that he can solve six other problems. He was over qualified for the assignment. What a boy!
Beloved, even if they bring somebody else for the same position to compete or submit application for the job, he will stand no chance against David.
This is because David was qualified and has additional superior capabilities. If I was Saul I will naturally pick David as well because my calculation will be that if I employ this man he won’t just solve one problem for me, he can solve other problems as well.
I remember a time I wanted buying a flat screwdriver, I was shown one that looked very fanciful but was then shown another one that wasn’t so attractive. I eventually bought the less attractive one for just one reason, it serves dual purposes.
It can fasten or loosen both flat and star head screws, and guess what? They go for the same price. I can bet you’ve done similar bargains for other items as well. Such was David, he came with additional features.
