Illumination-1

Genesis 21:19 “And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink.’
Today, let us consider how God eventually gave Hagar and her son water in the wilderness. The Bible says, “And God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water…”
Beloved, God didn’t dig a well of water to satisfy their thirst, He simply opened her eyes!
This principle is called the principle of illumination. This principle talks about perception and comprehension.
The question is were her eyes closed? Her physical eyes were opened but the inner or spiritual eyes were shut. She could not discern.
A wise man said, “Many eyes look but few eyes see”. Hagar was looking but couldn’t see.
The Hebrew word used for “saw”, means to perceive, to see, to have a vision and to be observant. It also means to supply with light!
Friend, when you are in darkness, it doesn’t matter how wide you open your eyes, there are things you won’t be able to see. You need a supply of light to see well.
The problem with many people is that they lack illumination and that is why the challenges of life overwhelm them.
Hagar like we saw earlier was in the midst of plenty but couldn’t just see or comprehend it. Hagar lacked vision, she ran out of ideas that can bail her out of the mess she was in. When in trouble simply use your imagination and have a fresh vision.
When challenges of life surface, don’t weep, simply relax and dream! Have a new dream, imagine yourself out of the mess. Think, think and think.
Another meaning of the word is “to be observant”. Friend, could it be that your are in the midst of plenty but couldn’t see it because you are not observant enough?
In science experiments one thing every student must have in abundance is observation.
