Genesis 21:17 “And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he [is].”

Mark 10:47 “And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, [thou] Son of David, have mercy on me.”
Mark 10:49 “And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.”
Blind Bartimaeus was begging for alms by the highway side when all of a sudden he got wind of Jesus’ passing. He shouted and cried till he got the attention of Jesus.
Jesus stopped and asked that he be brought. When he got to Jesus, he asked him a very “strange” question:
Mark 10:51 “And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.”
Mark 10:51 “Jesus said, “What can I do for you?” The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”” (MSG)
Jesus said, “What can I do for you?”. Jesus knew he was blind and saw his predicament yet asked what he could do for him. The man was blind quite alright but getting his sight back might not be what he wanted, he might need cash or even food for that day.
God will not assume for you he needs you to voice out your requests. Tell Him what you need and be specific.
Friend, I know we are human beings and emotional creatures so it’s alright to cry but never let your tears becloud your sense of judgement. Hagar wept and gave up on life but not Ishmael. Your voice will not be abominable to heaven in Jesus name.
Guess what? The name Ishmael simply means “God will hear” and God indeed heard him!
Pray this prayer with me:
Psalms 20:1 “The LORD hear thee in the day of trouble…”
The Lord will hear you in the day of trouble like he heard Ishmael in Jesus name!
