Set time
Genesis 21:2 “For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him.”
Sarah conceived and bare Abraham a son at the set time of which God had spoken to him. Could it be that Abraham knew all along when Sarah would give birth?
Some school of thought and bible scholars believed so and I agree with them to a large extent. From our focal scripture Abraham knew he would father a son in his old age at the time God had said but yet he went and slept with Hagar before the set time.
This is the problem of several believers, God has spoken, we have believed his word but many a times we ain’t patient enough for God’s timing. I have discovered that most times his time is completely different from ours.
The set time is a predetermined, assigned and prepared time for an activity. Once the time is set we are to relax and wait. If a woman gets pregnant and delivers in the fourth month, it is not a delivery, it is an abortion!
When we don’t wait for the set time we abort a divine process. That was why God said:
Ecclesiastes 3:1 “To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”
Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He hath made every [thing] beautiful in his time…”
I know you won’t like a baby delivered in the fourth month, it won’t be beautiful simply because it has violated the law of the set time.
It is possible Abraham discussed with Sarah that God said Isaac is coming when he is hundred years old and Sarah ninety. But they both doubted God and opted for an alternative.
Beloved, God is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, God dwells in eternity and time is only a fragment of eternity. So when He says wait for the set time He knows what he’s talking about. He has seen what you have not seen.
The set time is the best time, never find an alternative to him, WAIT!
To be continued…
