Welcome to 2017 Beyond Your Sword-1
Psalms 44:3 “For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.”
I say Happy New Year to every Lift reader. The Lord has indeed been mindful of us. I want to appreciate everyone for keeping faith with us all through 2016.
Thanks for the encouraging words, financial support, prayers and comments. We appreciate you all. God bless you real good.
2017 for us has been tagged Our Year of the Supernatural, and we are excited about it already. We know for sure that difficult things will become very easy for us. The supernatural by design is the natural habitat for believers and we know this reality will dawn more and more on us as we make progress in this New Year.
Beloved, David said something very serious in our focal scripture which I want us to pay rapt attention to. He said, “For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them”.
Each time I read this psalm I see a paradox. The man David was a great warrior. He fought 66 battles and lost NONE! He fought lions, bear, and giants, foreign and local armies. He also fought and won domestic battles. In fact, he fought and won a battle while lying on his death bed and won.
Now, in this psalm he described the several victories of his progenitors, men like Moses, Joshua, Caleb and Gideon among others. These were great warriors who motivated him.
We have read of their exploits and can’t but wonder in admiration at their heroics, but David seems to just water down their victories a little in this psalm.
David was a warrior too and knew all the antics and strategy of war, so he knew what he was saying. He simply gave us the secret behind their success, which was the secret behind his as well.
To be continued…
