LESSONS FROM LAZARUS Trivialise the Matter-1

John 11:4 “When Jesus got the message, he said, “This sickness is not fatal. It will become an occasion to show God’s glory by glorifying God’s Son.”” (MSG)
John 11:11 “These things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.”
Jesus made two outstanding statements in our focal scriptures for today. He said, “This sickness is not fatal” or “Not unto death” and also said “Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.”
Those statements look as though Jesus did not know the seriousness of the situation. But the truth is that for messengers to travel about two days to deliver a message shows the seriousness and urgency of the matter. But Jesus didn’t react to the Message the way it was presented. Rather he trivialised the situation.
To trivialise means to make something of little significance or value or to make it commonplace or ordinary.
Jesus “commonised” the whole situation. Friend, don’t let any situation or circumstance weigh you down. Hear this:
1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].”
1 Corinthians 10:13 “No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.” (MSG)
Jesus was simply saying, this situation is common; it is not beyond what God can enable and empower us to handle. It is no big deal!
He was saying, “Devil, bring it on, we are well able!”
