Take the Risk-2
John 11:7 “and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.””
John 11:8 “”But Rabbi,” they said, “a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you, and yet you are going back?”” (NIV)
…From yesterday…
Friend, perhaps you have quit praising God because of the stones that have been thrown at you. People might have mocked you saying, “He’s in so much debt and he is still going to church”. “She danced so much in church yet no child”, and you even heard them.
Don’t let them discourage you, go back and do it some more!
Haven’t you read this?
Isaiah 54:1 “Sing, O barren, thou [that] didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou [that] didst not travail with child…’
Keep hope alive, return to Judea again and again! Singing praises while being mocked is a risk worth taking.
Another lesson I learnt from our focal scripture is that life belongs to risk takers. If you see a man that has never failed you’ve probably seen one who has never attempted anything significant, a man whose capacity for taking risks is very low!
On the other hand, all through history, men who have succeeded the most have been the greatest risk takers. This is true in both biblical and contemporary world.
Abraham risked being called a fool, risked death and famine all because God instructed him to go to a land he would show him. Not a land with a map or name, but one he would show him!
Genesis 12:1 “GOD told Abram: “Leave your country, your family, and your father’s home for a land that I will show you.”
Genesis 12:4 “So Abram left just as GOD said, and Lot left with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.” (MSG)
How many people can do that? I guess most of us would have brought out our “Google map” and asked God to point the place to us before we agree to move, but not Abraham.
To be continued…
