LESSONS FROM LAZARUS
Take the Risk-1
John 11:7 “and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.””
John 11:8 “”But Rabbi,” they said, “a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you, and yet you are going back?”” (NIV)
…From yesterday…
I love this next set of lessons I gleaned from our focal scriptures. First and foremost, Jesus told his disciples to follow him back to Judea and they were scared because they said, “…a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone him…” right there at Judea.
It simply means that the last time Jesus went to Judea there was an attempt to take his life.
The first thing I saw from here is that the enemy will always attack you in Judea because he wants to get you to Bethany! From our previous meditation, Bethany means “house of sorrow or misery,” while Judea means “praise”.
Friend, when you are sorrowful, the enemy is joyful; but your joy brings him tears! You need to get that right. Don’t ever give the enemy an opportunity to laugh at your misfortune. Hear this:
Nehemiah 8:10 “…neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10 “…Don’t feel bad. The joy of GOD is your strength!””
The Bible says you should not feel sorry or bad, derive your strength from God’s joy!
If they throw stones at you for being at Judea, don’t feel bad; don’t feel discouraged, return to Judea. Keep your praises high. Don’t give up. Let thanksgiving remain in your mouth. Always have cause to give God praise.
Friend, perhaps you have quit praising God because of the stones that have been thrown at you. People might have mocked you saying, “He’s in so much debt and he is still going to church”. “She danced so much in church yet no child”, and you even heard them.
Don’t let them discourage you, go back and do it some more!
Haven’t you read this?
To be continued…
