John 11:5 “Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.”
John 11:6 “When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.”
…From yesterday…
What an interesting place to stay. Jesus stayed in a place beyond Jordan where the water was good enough for baptism.
John 1:28 “These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.”
Jordan means to bring down, to take down or subdue. John knew this so he didn’t stay to baptise at Jordan, he went to a place called Bethabara which means a place where you can have a foothold to stand and baptise or immerse in water!
Bethabara is a place of baptism or immersion. It is a place of total submersion of a person in water!
One of the interpretations of water in the bible is the word.
Ephesians 5:26 “That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,”
Jesus didn’t rush to Lazarus’ house immediately he got the news; he rather went and submerged himself in the word! He went and dipped himself in the word.
Beloved, when issues come up, the first thing you need is a revelation from the word. You need to know exactly what to do, how to go about the challenge and from which angle to approach it.
Bethabara also means the place of prayer! I love that. Bethabara is a place of immersion in the word and prayer. Every faith based prayer has very high word content!
When Jesus finally got to Lazarus tomb he made just a statement and the dead man came out. He said:
John 11:41 “Then they took away the stone [from the place] where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up [his] eyes, and said, Father, I THANK THE THAT THOU HAST HEARD ME.”
The question that readily comes to mind is, “When did he pray the prayer that God heard?”
The secret was at Bethabara!
To be continued…
