LESSONS FROM LAZARUS Immersion-1
John 11:5 “Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.”
John 11:6 “When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
For the past few days we have discussed on killing haste. We saw that one of the reasons why Jesus delayed his going to Bethany was to kill haste and get direction.
In this meditation, I will like us to consider another insight I got from his supposed delay, I call it Immersion or Baptism.
Like I noted in earlier meditations, I couldn’t understand why Jesus didn’t go to see the one he professed he loved immediately he got news of his sickness.
It was a puzzle to me until the Holy Spirit showed me this revelation as well. He asked me to go find out where Jesus was and stayed for two more day. On getting to understand his location, the whole thing became clear. It was as though a veil was removed from my face.
So where was this place? Let’s trace it back:

John 10:40 “Then Jesus went back across the Jordan to the place John had been baptizing in the early days. There he stayed,”
John 10:42 “And in that place many believed in Jesus.”
Jesus didn’t stay just anywhere, he was at the place where John ha where d baptized in the early days. Jesus stayed at the place of baptism or immersion.
What an interesting place to stay. Jesus stayed in a place beyond Jordan where the water was good enough for baptism.
John 1:28 “These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.”
Jordan means to bring down, to take down or subdue. John knew this so he didn’t stay to baptise at Jordan, he went to a place called Bethabara, which means a place where you can have a foothold to stand and baptise or immerse in water!
Bethabara is a place of baptism or immersion. It a place of total submersion of a person in water!
To be continued…
