John 11:5 “Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.”
John 11:6 “When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.”
John 11:7 “and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.””
John 11:8 “”But Rabbi,” they said, “a short while ago the Jews there tried to stone you, and yet you are going back?”” (NIV)
When Jesus eventually agreed to go to Bethany, his disciples reminded him that they were almost killed the last time he went that way, and then he made another powerful statement:
John 11:9 “Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours of daylight? Anyone who walks in the daytime will not stumble, for they see by this world’s light.”
John 11:10 “It is when a person walks at night that they stumble, for they have no light.”” (NIV)
Jesus was simply telling them that it is not every time you’re called upon that you rush out, before you move ensure there is light!
Don’t ever rush out without light. Light talks about illumination and revelation. Make sure you receive instructions and direction before rushing out!
Friend, if Jesus needed to take his time to make sure the conditions were right before moving, we are not spared!
We must take a cue from him and kill haste before it kills or injures us. Hear this:
Proverbs 19:2 “Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes.” (NLT)
A man given to haste is always bound to make mistakes. It is not everywhere you rush to!
Isaiah 52:12 “For ye shall not go out with haste, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel [will be] your rereward.”
Beloved, before you ever move, make sure the Lord has moved ahead of you. God is our defence. Many times when we move without Him moving first, we end up facing challenges that overwhelm us.
Never move until HE moves!
