LESSONS FROM LAZARUS For His Glory

John 11:4 “When Jesus heard [that], he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”
John 11:4 “When Jesus got the message, he said, “This sickness is not fatal. It will become an occasion to show God’s glory by glorifying God’s Son.”” (MSG)
Jesus didn’t just have the right approach; he had the right words and the right perspective. He saw the challenge the way God looks at challenges.
I said earlier that Jesus hinged the problem on God. The question is, “How did he do it?”
He said, “This is an occasion for God to showcase his glory”. The question is what is the glory of God?
When you talk about the glory of a thing, it means its fullness. The Greek word used here is Doxa, which means the most glorious condition, most excellent and most exalted state or condition of a thing or person.
For example, when you see the sun around 12 noon on a very sunny day, you won’t be able to stare at it. When the sun shows its full brightness, we say the sun has appeared in its glory.
When you see an orange tree that has fruited well, with its fruits touching the ground, we say the orange tree has appeared in its glory.
The glory of a thing or a person therefore means seeing the thing or person in its best possible form! I love that. The day I got that understanding I screamed!
Guess what I discovered! I simply have a better understanding of what Jesus said. “…This sickness is not unto death, but to bring the fullness of God into this matter”. Jesus was simply saying, “In this sickness God will show up in His most excellent and most exalted form!”
God was asked to bring everything that made Him God into the matter!
Could it be that the challenge you are facing is consuming you because you’ve not asked God to bring his glory into the matter?
To be continued…
