LESSONS FROM LAZARUS Right Approach-1

John 11:4 “When Jesus heard [that], he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”
John 11:4 “When Jesus got the message, he said, “This sickness is not fatal. It will become an occasion to show God’s glory by glorifying God’s Son.”” (MSG)
I love the disposition of Jesus to the news of his friend’s sickness. He didn’t run helter skelter; he simply announced that the problem or challenge had presented a platform for God to show forth His glory once again.
Friend, when you received that seemingly terrifying news or doctor’s report, what was the first thing that came out of your mouth? How did you receive the news?
The problem most times is not the challenge or the bad news we receive, the problem is our attitude towards it. Jesus received the news with the right attitude and things changed for the better.
Why did Jesus make such a statement? Didn’t he hear them well? He did, but he responded like that due to several reasons.
I believe one of the reasons he responded that way was to hinge the problem on God. Jesus literally transfered the challenge to his Father. To paraphrase his statement, “This sickness is not unto death, but for my Father to come display His glory” (John 11:4) (Emphasis mine).
Jesus told his Father to come and show what He can do! Bet you, you don’t say that to God and He will refuse to show up. God heard in heaven and I could imagine Him smiling and telling the angels to get set for a demonstration of power and glory.
Beloved, could it be that when you received that news the first thing on your mind was which doctor you could call? Where is the best hospital in that town? What efforts have you made? Who and who have you consulted?
Jesus’ approach was first and foremost to get the attention of His Father.
To be continued…
