Discipline-16

Titus 2:6 “In a similar way, urge the younger men to be self-restrained and to behave prudently [taking life seriously].”(AMP)
…From yesterday…
Seriousness simply means you decide on what you want to do and then give it your maximum attention. Put your energy and focus into it. Refuse to shift ground.
To a serious minded man or woman, discouragement means nothing. They are too busy to take note of discouragement. You can’t keep a serious minded man down. He will always find a way out of every pit.
How serious are you about your assignment?
I was listening to a very successful man of God that I respect so much and he said some very serious things. He said, “Many people are talking about how we constructed this auditorium in record time and wondering if it was really God that helped us.”
He said, “Two years before we mobilised to the site, I came to the bare ground and prayed for an average of 16 hours every day for one year!”
How do you describe that? It is called seriousness! He was deadly committed to his assignment.
How will you describe a 12 year old boy, leaving his father, mother, playmates and even food for 2 days to discuss with older and more experienced teachers of the law?
That was a serious Jesus at twelve years old!
How would you describe a man fasting 40 days to begin an assignment? It is called the discipline of seriousness!
George Washington said, ‘Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable; procures success to the weak, and esteem to all.” Little and unskilled men have become giants simply because of the discipline of seriousness.
Permit me to round up with the words of one of my favourite authors, Jim Rohn, he said, “We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment.”
Friend, what is your assignment?
What discipline(s) will get it done?
How serious are you about it?
