As we begin to draw the curtain on this meditation, let’s take another critical look at our focal scripture:
Titus 2:6 “In a similar way, urge the younger men to be self-restrained and to behave prudently [taking life seriously].”(AMP)
From this scripture, another way to describe discipline is self-restraint in behaving prudently. He didn’t just say prudently; Paul went ahead and qualified what he meant by prudence. He said prudence is taking life seriously.
I read a book in which the man of God said something I consider very serious, he said one day he asked God what to do to have success in his call to ministry, and God said, “Take life serious, take yourself serious because I am a serious God.”
My father in the Lord also gave me the same advice; and I have since discovered that every other discipline we need to cultivate in life is hinged on this.
Proverbs 16:20 “It pays to take life seriously; things work out when you trust in GOD.” (MSG)
When you approach life with seriousness, she approaches you back in the same way. When you talk to several successful people, they will tell you they are busy.
Many people think it’s pride, but the truth is that if you get serious and busy yourself you will equally discover how short 24 hours really is.
Deuteronomy 4:29 “But even there, if you seek GOD, your God, you’ll be able to find him if you’re serious, looking for him with your whole heart and soul.”
God also said if you look for me seriously, I will pay attention to you.
Seriousness simply means you decide on what you want to do and then give it your maximum attention. Put your energy and focus into it. Refuse to shift ground.
