Discipline-8
Titus 2:6 “Also, guide the young men to live disciplined lives.”(MSG)
Titus 2:6 “In a similar way, urge the younger men to be self-restrained and to behave prudently [taking life seriously].”(AMP)
…From yesterday…
Genesis 13:2 “And Abram [was] very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.”
Gen1esis 13:3 “And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai;”
Abraham became rich yet he didn’t forget his altar. How did he do this? He did it by discipline! He built prayer into his system!
The discipline of prayer was something Abraham developed and nothing could change it all through his life time. No wonder Jesus came several years later and never joked with his altar as well!
Matthew 14:23 “And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.”
Luke 6:12 “And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.”
Mark 1:35 “And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.”
What normally baffles me each time I read these scriptures is the fact that Jesus is God, so why was he praying? He said it severally that he is one with the Father.
John 10:30 “I and [my] Father are one.”
In order words God came here and prayed to God! It sounds paradoxical but very true!
If God can develop the discipline of prayer who are you not to?
We can see from the above scriptures that he prayed early in the morning, all through the day and even all night! It takes great discipline to do that. Beloved, what is your prayer life like?
I can assure you that if Jesus even though God prayed you cannot escape a disciplined prayer life!
To be continued…
