Who is in Your Boat?-5

Jonah 1: 4 “But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken”
Jonah 1: 5 “Then the mariners were afraid and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay and was fast asleep”
…From yesterday…
Friend, don’t let a Jonah rock the boat of your life and destiny. If you’re in a relationship that is devaluing or reducing you, quit! Don’t be emotional about it; it’s your life we are talking about here!
Every time I read the story of Jonathan, David and King Saul, I cannot but almost weep for the young man Jonathan. Emotions killed him. He saw “two ships” one of which he could travel with at a critical time in his life. But, sadly, he chose the wrong one and perished with a “Jonah” although his father.
I’ve seen people hold on tightly to relationships that are reducing and devaluing them, relationships not benefitting them just because of emotions. They tell you, “If I change ship what will people say”. It’s true people will talk, but I’ll rather become one of the four hundred men of David living in a cave than get killed with a king Saul who no longer follows the Lord, but although still living in the palace.
Beloved, hanging around a Jonah is very expensive. Consider this:
Jonah 1:5 “Then the mariners were afraid and cried every man unto his god, and cast forth the wares that were in the ship into the sea, to lighten it of them. But Jonah was gone down into the sides of the ship; and he lay and was fast asleep”
Jonah 1:5 “The sailors were terrified. They called out in desperation to their gods. They threw everything they were carrying overboard to lighten the ship. Meanwhile, Jonah had gone down into the hold of the ship to take a nap. He was sound asleep.” (MSG)
