God, on Your Terms-9

Deuteronomy 5:33 “Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and [that it may be] well with you, and [that] ye may prolong [your] days in the land which ye shall possess.”
Deuteronomy 5:33 “Walk straight down the road GOD commands so that you’ll have a good life and live a long time in the land that you’re about to possess.” (MSG)
…From yesterday…
The word ‘leper’ as used here is from a Hebrew root word which means “to scourge”. Scourge means something that causes persistent trouble and inflicts pain. It also means a whip. There are many people suffering from this type of leprosy.
You see brilliant folks failing exams or even roaming the streets because they lack sponsorship in schools, rich men without wives or children, successful business people without peace, brilliant dedicated leaders, but with terrible character flaws. These are realities that confront mankind daily.
Naaman was in this precarious situation, and he went to God for solution. God, via His prophet, gave him His terms, but it didn’t go down well the General. He must have been very angry with not just the terms of God, but even the manner in which it was delivered.
The prophet didn’t even come out to meet with “a whole General Naaman”. Elisha simply sent his servant to convey the message to him. It didn’t augur well with General Naaman at all; he decided to walk away. His reply revealed that he had his own terms of reference.
2 Kings 5:11 “But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper.”
2 Kings 5:12 “[Are] not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage.”
