God, on Your Terms-7

Deuteronomy 5:33 “Ye shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and [that it may be] well with you, and [that] ye may prolong [your] days in the land which ye shall possess.”
Deuteronomy 5:33 “Walk straight down the road GOD commands so that you’ll have a good life and live a long time in the land that you’re about to possess.” (MSG)
…From yesterday…
Matthew 19:21 “”go sell your possessions; give everything to the poor. All your wealth will then be in heaven. Then come follow me.”” (MSG)
Jesus told him heaven and the next level was possible, but on God’s terms! The guy buried his CV and quickly left church!
Beloved, only God can satisfy Himself!
Jesus wanted to take this young man to the dimension of God so that he could start to get results at the level of God but he left church, and by implication the presence of God. Hear this:
Matthew 19:22 “But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.”
The man went away sorrowful because God’s terms looked so difficult. He felt what he had was too great to give away; he was therefore afraid of becoming poor. “How can I sell all that I have and give to the poor? What will people say? Won’t they say I am foolish and stupid?” He must have thought loudly to himself.
I imagine you too asking, “How can God give this kind of “wicked and inconveniencing” condition before blessing him?
Friend, many times we are like this rich and righteous folk. We need the help of God,, but come with a mindset. We already set our minds in a particular direction.
We have a premeditated idea of how the miracle should happen. We tend to want to dictate the terms to God. I call this the “Namaan syndrome”. I am sure you still remember that great Syrian war General:
2 Kings 5:9 “So Naaman came with his horses and with his chariot, and stood at the door of the house of Elisha.”
To be continued…
