The Lion, the Bear and the Giants-8
1 Samuel 17:34 “And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:”
1 Samuel 17:36 “Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.”
…From yesterday…
Beloved, stay alert; watch where you go, what you eat and who you mingle with.
Don’t quit fellowship with other believers; never isolate yourself! There is safety in numbers.
The devil is seeking whom he may devour; the “whom” is anybody that has let down his guard, inattentive, not alert and probably wondered away.
Also remember that from our study of the hunting pattern of the lion, it attacks mainly in the evenings and night. This speaks of our low moments, when we are tired and exhausted.
The lion and bear waited for this low moment in the life of Esau and took away the birthright from him! They also waited for this moment in the life of Christ, when they knew Jesus was hungry and tired, and brought the same temptation; but, glory be to God, Jesus didn’t fall for it!
Don’t let the devil use your weakness against you; it is a bear strategy. You must be aware of it always! Watch your moods, tastes and desires. They are tools the enemy want to exploit to take your lamb.
Finally, David stated categorically that they took a lamb, not a sheep. A lamb is simply sheep at infancy, as we stated earlier.
The lamb represents your gifts, talents and seed of greatness, which are yet to develop fully. Beloved, grow your lamb; feed your lamb, till it becomes a sheep.
It is easier for the lion and bear to take a lamb, compared to a sheep. A sheep speaks of maturity. A sheep knows and understands the antics of the lion more than a lamb.
