Embrace Something Brand New -8

Isaiah 43:19 “Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.”(MSG)
…From yesterday…
As we begin to round up this meditation, it’s good to ask what it takes to try something new. I saw two major things in the lives of the men that embraced “the new” in the bible. Those key things helped them to go beyond the norm to do the impossible.
The two things are: “An Instruction from God” and “A Daring Spirit”.
Friend, the starting point to moving into newness is a clear instruction from God. Check out, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, Jesus, Paul, John the Beloved and several others.
Beloved, wait for God’s instructions before trying something new. His word is the ultimate test for taking any risk. Yes. I have tried this severally and I know some of those instructions can sound “dummy” and even make you look stupid or silly to others!
Men may laugh you to scorn, but the truth is, if God says it, He will vindicate you on the long run.
God told Moses to try something new, which was to open up an access road through the Red Sea. The instruction was for them to step into the water first and then watch it divide. That sounds “dummy”.
The issue is that many people believe in God, but their actions show that they do not trust Him! In Acts 10 that we considered, Peter was an Apostle of God that believed God, but we saw that he didn’t really trust God.
Paul came on the scene and swallowed what God said hook, line and sinker. When Paul received the instruction, he knew that men would laugh at him and might even try to discourage him or termed him insane. So, he first left those folks and went to Arabia to understand the full weight and details of his call and also receive clearer instructions.
To be continued…
