Embrace Something Brand New -5
Isaiah 43:19 “Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.”(MSG)
You said God has called you to preach to nations, but they tell you, “No, everybody in your clan has been a doctor or lawyer, how dare you say God has called you to preach? They tell you everybody in your family belongs to a particular church denomination, why will you want to change the order?
Joseph woke up one day and announced to his brothers and parents that he had a dream to become a king and ruler. All hell was let loose! They couldn’t comprehend what he was saying. Everybody in the family had been a farmer. Abraham was a successful and very wealthy farmer; same went for Isaac, even Esau and their own father Jacob. How dare he want to become a ruler and administrator? It had never happened and so he was labelled a rebel or deviant in the family!
Beloved, never let the opinions of men deter you from the newness God wants to bring you into. Change the order! Even Abraham had to embrace the new thing God was about to do before he became the father of faith.
Abraham tried something new. He ventured to go where he had never been before. If he had remained in his father’s house he would have died a moon worshipper, not the patriarch of faith.
Moses also did it. He was ready to lead a group of about two million people to a far away land he had never been to himself! The trip was to involve “creating a dry-land-tunnel through” the Red Sea! The first of its kind!
It was also to involve bringing out water from a rock:
Exodus 17:6 “Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.”
