The world belongs to men and women who are ready to try out something new by daring the impossible! I love Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. Hear this:
Luke 1:59 “And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.”
Luke 1:60 “And his mother answered and said, Not [so]; but he shall be called John.”
Luke 1:61 “And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.”
When John was to be named, the entire kindred simply gave him the name Zacharias after his father. Those guys didn’t mean well for John at all. They had seen his father become dumb, yet they insisted on naming him Zechariah so that the same fate would befall him; but thank God for women like Elizabeth.
This woman said no; let’s give him the name John; let’s do something new. But those folks said nobody in our lineage has ever been given such a name. They were indirectly saying, how dare you change the order, how dare you embrace something new! Thou shall not change the status quo.
Beloved, who are you listening to? What are they saying into your life?
This applies to us in several ways. For some, you finished your first degree and they told you, “You’ve tried, no need to further your education, after all nobody ever got a PhD in your lineage.” For some others, you want to build a house, but then they tell you, “Just go and rent a befitting apartment; after all, nobody ever built a house in your family; everybody has lived and died a tenant.
You said God has called you to preach to nations, but they tell you, “No, everybody in your clan has been a doctor or lawyer, how dare you say God has called you to preach?
