Embrace Something Brand New -2
Isaiah 43:19 “Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new. It’s bursting out! Don’t you see it? There it is! I’m making a road through the desert, rivers in the badlands.”(MSG)
…From yesterday…
Acts 10:14 “But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.”
Acts 10:16 “This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.”
Dr. Mike Murdoch said, “If you want something you never had, you have to do something you’ve never done.”
Larry Winget also said, “As long as you keep on doing what you’ve been doing then you are going to keep on getting what you’ve been getting.”
That has been the story of many of us, we want a different or new result yet we are not willing to try out a new or different approach.
In the book of Acts 10, we see Apostle Peter in an encounter with the Lord. The Lord invites Peter to do something radically new and different to take his ministry and destiny to a new or different level altogether, but Peter refuses outright!
He was comfortable with the “great” ministry he was enjoying and unwilling to risk going out on a limb. How can God give such an invitation and Peter would refuse?
Well, let’s not blame the Apostle; we all do it daily. We have become so accustomed to the norm that we refuse to see the possibilities loaded in newness.
God threw the opportunity to Peter three times, and three times he rejected it. Heaven came to Peter with her latest agenda and the “holy” Peter rejected it. As great as Apostle Peter was, he missed the opportunity to become greater. Peter missed his hour of visitation!
If only Peter had tried something new and taken the risk! Your guess is as good as mine; he would have been the author of 75% of the New Testament that Paul wrote.
