Genesis 30:37 “And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which was in the rods.”
Genesis 30:39 “And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.”

They all eventually came to one conclusion:
John 7:46 “No one ever spoke the way this man does,” (NIV)
They simply could not beat Jesus, no matter how hard they tried. He always had a creative way of answering them and solving every puzzle.
They came with a woman to him to be stoned to death, his innovation not only saved the woman, it also shamed the so called teachers of the law. They brought several sick folks to him; he healed them, using different creative methods.
He laid hands on some, asked some to go wash in the river, spoke to some and touched some. He didn’t use the same method all through. If he had done that they might have been able to stop him, but his innovation was way beyond them.
You simply cannot stop an innovative man; put him between Pharaoh and the Red Sea, he will create a tunnel through the sea!
In conclusion, I want to ask you the self same question Jesus always asked, “HAVE YE NOT READ?”
Jesus was always inspired to give innovative answers because he was a diehard reader!
Luke 4:16 “…as his CUSTOM WAS, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and STOOD UP FOR TO READ.”
Jesus’ custom was to read; he cultivated it, and so can you. When last did you read your Bible? If innovation dries up in your life, check your reading culture.
If people are to talk about your custom, what will it be? TV, films, social media and maybe sleep.
Friend, consult God in prayers; dream dreams; read hard and then go put together your own “rods of green poplar”, “the hazel and chesnut tree” and see your flocks grow.
Innovation is in you, activate it, Selah!
