Breaking Inferiority Complex-1
Numbers 13:33 “We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.””(NIV)
Let me start this meditation with this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
That is a profound statement! In our focal scripture the children of Israel proved to be correct beyond every reasonable doubt. Looking at our focal scripture critically, one cannot but wonder how a normal human being could make such a statement.
They said they looked like grasshoppers beside the descendants of Anak. That might be true to some extent since those guys were giants, but there was no way they could have looked like grasshoppers. Okay, let’s even overlook that part.
The one that baffled me is the concluding statement:
Numbers 13:33 “…We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.””(NIV)
Numbers 13:33 “And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, [which come] of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.”(KJV)
They said those folks also looked at them as if they were grasshoppers. That is definitely a big exaggeration. The children of Israel were not mind readers. If they were the bible would have told us; so, how come they knew the thoughts of the children of Anak?
Were they in their mind? Those were unfounded statements from a bastardized mind, a twisted and parochial mentality, a degenerated and totally devalued mindset.
Friend, we all see the children of Israel from that perspective because we have the benefit of hindsight to analyse the story; but the gist is this, we have all toed that line of thought before, either directly or indirectly.
How many times have you told yourself, “I CAN’T”?
To be continued…
