The Power of Innovation-9
Genesis 30:37 “And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which [was] in the rods.”
Genesis 30:38 “And he set the rods which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.”
Genesis 30:39 “And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.”
…From yesterday…
A man with an innovative mind can never be stranded in life. He will always find a way out.
One interesting thing in wrestling matches is the way many of the matches end. The most intriguing thing about the matches, especially of famous and most admired and loved fighters are the skill and innovation with which they win their opponents.
You’ll see somebody that has been beaten and given up for dead suddenly produce a moment of brilliance that wins him the match. That is the power of innovation!
As we begin to round up this piece, let us look at one or two things that made Jacob such an innovative man. Hear this:
Genesis 31:11 “And the angel of God spake unto me in a dream, [saying], Jacob: And I said, Here [am] I.”
Genesis 31:12 “And he said, Lift up now thine eyes, and see, all the rams which leap upon the cattle [are] ringstraked, speckled, and grisled: for I have seen all that Laban doeth unto thee.”
In Genesis 30, we just saw Jacob producing all manner of coloured animals and I thought he was such a genius until I got to Genesis 31 and saw what actually happened.
The starting point of every innovation is God and then a dream. Innovation is always God dropping an idea from His mind into ours. God saw the way Jacob had been cheated and decided to step into the matter.
