The Power of Innovation-6

Genesis 30:37 “And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which [was] in the rods.”
Genesis 30:38 “And he set the rods which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.”

Genesis 30:39 “And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.”
…From yesterday…
However, I love this man called Jacob; he was tired of handouts in life and decided to become an employer as well. He could have agreed to be placed on salary, which was the easiest way out, but no, he chose to become innovative.
Genesis 30:32 “Go through your entire flock today and take out every speckled or spotted sheep, every dark-colored lamb, every spotted or speckled goat. They will be my wages.”
Genesis 30:33 “That way you can check on my honesty when you assess my wages. If you find any goat that’s not speckled or spotted or a sheep that’s not black, you will know that I stole it.””
Genesis 30:34 “”Fair enough,” said Laban. “It’s a deal.”” (MSG)
Jacob made Laban a “mouth-watering” offer, and the old man jumped at it! Be careful when making deals with an innovator. Laban looked at the deal on the surface and fell for it; but the creative Jacob knew what to do.
Jacob didn’t tell Laban he was going to the bush to bring in some special animals and create a type of special goats. The young man picked the same animals, the same place where they fed, the same old poplar tree, all available resources, but combined them in a new way!
He simply found a way to make the animals produce what he wanted! Indeed, there’s nothing new under heaven.
To be continued…
