The Power of Innovation-5
Genesis 30:37 “And Jacob took him rods of green poplar, and of the hazel and chesnut tree; and pilled white strakes in them, and made the white appear which [was] in the rods.”
Genesis 30:38 “And he set the rods which he had pilled before the flocks in the gutters in the watering troughs when the flocks came to drink, that they should conceive when they came to drink.”
Genesis 30:39 “And the flocks conceived before the rods, and brought forth cattle ringstraked, speckled, and spotted.”
Laban had become a multi-millionaire because of Jacob, while Jacob was poor. Laban then thought of placing him on salary, so that He could continue to serve him, while he paid him stipends.
Genesis 30:31 “And he said, What shall I give thee? And Jacob said, Thou shalt not give me any thing: if thou wilt do this thing for me, I will again feed [and] keep thy flock:”
Genesis 30:31 “”So, what should I pay you?” Jacob said, “You don’t have to pay me a thing. But how about this? I will go back to pasture and care for your flocks.”(MSG)
The problem with many people is salary! I’ve since discovered that the “salary mindset” kills creativity and innovation! That might be a hard nut to crack; but it’s the truth. The major difference between an employer and an employee is simply the power to innovate.
Employers create new things, while employees simply recreate or reproduce them! As long as you’re mentally lazy and can’t innovate, you will remain an employee.
However, I love this man called Jacob; he was tired of handouts in life and decided to become an employer as well. He could have agreed to be placed on salary, which was the easiest way out, but no, he chose to become innovative.
Genesis 30:32 “Go through your entire flock today and take out every speckled or spotted sheep, every dark-colored lamb, every spotted or speckled goat. They will be my wages.”
