Little foxes-4

Song of Solomon 2:15 “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines [have] tender grapes.”
Song of Solomon 2:15 “Our vineyards are in blossom; we must catch the little foxes that destroy the vineyards.”(CEV)
…From yesterday…
When a vine has no potential or nothing to offer, the foxes stay away. No wonder you see couples who fell head over heels in love with each other and got married suddenly start talking about divorce!
You see a successful business man who loved the Lord suddenly start skipping church.
A man who God has helped to build a business suddenly become arrogant and maltreat his staff. He rubbishes the people God brought his way and start behaving like a god.
You see children that are well brought up wake up one day and start misbehaving, joining gangs and doing drugs.
It didn’t just start the day you notice it, it started when the little flocks entered and were left on checked. The little foxes grew up into big foxes and became difficult to cutail.
Now, what are some of these little foxes that confront us daily?
The first one I want us to consider is what I call compromise. Compromise talks about agreeing with something we know to be wrong. Many of us have compromised on our faith in several ways so as to win favour from people.
Many compromise so as not to be labelled unsocial and premitive. They tell you a little alcohol here and there doesn’t make you irresponsible or make you a drunkard.
They tell you it’s cool to hang out with the boys a little after office hours rather than rush home to your family.
They tell you to come to the club and play golf with the big boys on Sunday morning once in a while.
The key word is “a little” And before long the little becomes much. The little drink you take once in a while suddenly becomes an addiction.

Mosquitoes kill 2.7 million people every year. Yes, the smallest are the deadliest!*
The smaller, the deadlier! Who will ever believe that mosquitoes and spiders are deadlier than lions! I mean lions that we call kings of the jungle! I am sure if you are like me which I know you are, you will rather prefer to share a room with mosquitoes overnight rather than spend a night with a lion or a buffalo!
As a matter of fact, one common insect in most homes are spiders! We see them almost on daily basis. When you get to some homes you might mistakenly take them for pets!
Many of us are however not aware of their deadly tendencies. I read recently that a family of 6 was wiped out after taking tea in the morning as they normally did.
After an autopsy and investigation, it was discovered that a spider was in the kettle with which they boiled water for the tea. The boiling actually extracted the spider’s poison into the water, and they drank it with the tea to their death!
The issue is this, that little seemingly insignificant thing can wreck a serious havoc. We must therefore protect ourselves against these little foxes that can do great harm to our vines.
Back to our focal scripture, we discover that these little foxes don’t just show up anywhere. They only show up at vines with grapes or at vines that are blossoming.
When a vine has no potential or nothing to offer, the foxes stay away. No wonder you see couples who fell head over heels in love with each other and got married suddenly start talking about divorce!
