Little foxes-2

Song of Solomon 2:15 “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines [have] tender grapes.”
Song of Solomon 2:15 “Our vineyards are in blossom; we must catch the little foxes that destroy the vineyards.”(CEV)
…From yesterday…
One thing we see from our focal scripture is that these foxes are little, probably infinitesimal, but highly destructive. It is their destructive tendencies that make them very dangerous to our “Vines”.
The Hebrew word used for vine here connotes several things, such as; Increase, fruitfulness, family, home, household, palace, place, steward, temple and obtaining children, among others.
Those are very interesting meanings. These meanings are a major reason I believe the Holy Spirit wants us to consider this scripture. The word vine represents the totality of our achievements.
The reason we labour so hard as believers and yet see very little result not commensurate to our efforts is largely due to these so called little foxes.
Before we continue analysing the scripture, permit me to share these appalling statistics with you, which I believe drives home the key points.
It is said that:
*Buffalos kill 7 people every year.*
*Lions kill 500 people every year.*
*Hippos kill 800 people every year.*
*Spiders kill 5000 people every year.*
*Scorpions kill 7000 people every year.*
*Snakes kill 10000 people every year.*
*And then, surprisingly,*
*Mosquitoes kill 2.7 million people every year. Yes, the smallest are the deadliest!*
The smaller the more deadlier. Who will ever believe that mosquitoes or spiders are deadlier than the Lion! Lion that we call the king of the jungle! I am sure if you are like me, which I know you are, you will rather prefer to share a room with mosquitoes overnight rather than spend a night with a lion or a buffalo!
To be continued…
