1 Samuel 17:33 “And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.”
1 Samuel 17:42 “And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was [but] a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.”
…From yesterday…
The world is full of pundits. A pundit is a self-professed expert in a particular field, especially when called upon to provide comments or opinion in the media. Pundits are expert critics and opinion leaders whose thoughts on issues are often found to be correct.
But we have seen them fail over and over again. A case study that baffled the whole world recently was what happened during the last English Premier League season.
Leicester City Football club defied all odds to win the prestigious league! Guess what?
At the beginning of last season, bookmakers or pundits quoted them at 5,000-1 odd to win the Premier League title. To put that in perspective and simple English, it means that by the bookmakers’ analysis, the likelihood of Leicester bagging the Premier League title at the start of the season was like saying a little green man would pop into planet earth from Jupiter to borrow a cup of sugar.
It was that odd. In the previous season they had miraculously escaped relegation, so everybody felt they would defiantly go down. Everything pointed to the fact that they couldn’t make it. History was against them; in fact, few years earlier their main striker was not even playing football!
It was like saying, “David, a youth and an amateur, was trying to take on Goliath who had been a world class footballer since his youth.” Nobody could see them winning. Nobody saw it coming
But they eventually did it. Analysts have all agreed that their feat is the greatest upset in football history.
To be continued…
