Fight -9

1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”

1 Samuel 11:2 “And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this [condition] will I make [a covenant] with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it [for] a reproach upon all Israel.”

…From yesterday…
It’s however unfortunate that despite the indwelling Holy Spirit, we still take things for granted. We have challenges and we chicken out from fighting.
Beloved, Bible sense must tell you that that a contrary situation is simply an invitation to a fight!
Saul knew better! He got inspired by the Spirit of God and a holy anger came upon him.
What is that doctor’s report, lack of money, barrenness, stagnation, failure, etc. doing to you? Are you using them as excuses to cry or as motivation to fight?
Saul didn’t join the pity party, he didn’t team up with the wailers; he took charge!
1 Samuel 11:8 “Saul took command of the people at Bezek. There were 300,000 men from Israel, another 30,000 from Judah.”(MSG)
Saul simply “took command” and organised an army. It is instructive to know that prior to this time Saul had no formal military training. In fact, Israel was in disarray and had no army. Saul probably had never seen war before. As a matter of fact, he had just been anointed king.
In 1 Samuel 10 when he was to be anointed king, he ran away and hid himself. It took the intervention of heaven to find him. He was afraid and timid, but when the Spirit came upon him, he became another man.
Saul arranged a rag-tag, tattered army. Ill prepared without adequate tools! They must have looked so foolish and helpless. They must have looked like some mincemeat for the enemy.
To be continued…
