1 Samuel 11:1 “Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabeshgilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.”
1 Samuel 11:2 “And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this [condition] will I make [a covenant] with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it [for] a reproach upon all Israel.”
…From yesterday…
Come to think of it, we as believers come from a lineage of fighters! Yes, fighters! Abraham and Sarah fought poverty and childlessness. Isaac fought famine. Joseph fought slander, backbiting, fornication, hatred, imprisonment and demonic set ups. Gideon fought; David fought; Jesus fought; Peter and the early Apostles all fought! Why do you think you will be an exception?
To cap it all, the blood of Jesus runs in our veins and that blood has fight in its DNA! God himself is a fighter!
Exodus 15:3 “The LORD [is] a man of war: the LORD [is] his name.”
Exodus 15:3 “GOD is a fighter, pure GOD, through and through.”(MSG)
If you’re born again, then you’ve been initiated into an army of fighters; welcome to the club! If God your Father is a fighter and you claim to be His son, you will fight too!
Like I said earlier, the world belongs to fighters, and only fighters take the spoils of war. Hear this:
Numbers 31:53 “([For] the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.)”
Only heaven knows the number of “war spoils” you’ve been robbed of simply because you won’t fight! Many have lost their health, possessions, prosperity, territories, success, etc. to the enemy because they conceded defeat without a fight.
Back to our focal scripture, a terrible king once came up against the Israelites, by name Nahash. The name already has “harsh” in it. His aim was to beat the children of Israel into subjection and make them slaves, or better still, wipe them off this planet.
