Examples to follow-20
Philippians 3:17 “Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.” (NKJV)
Hebrews 6:12 “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
…From yesterday…
His next move was equally appalling. He abandoned the call of God upon his life and went back to his old trade of fishing. The same Peter that was fishing men demoted himself to fishing fish, shrimps and the like.
He abandoned the call of God upon his life and went back to his old trade. He didn’t do this alone; he took along the other Apostles with whom he was to start the church.
Till date, I still wonder how he convinced men like Luke, a medical doctor, Matthew, a chartered accountant and others to follow him to go fishing! Peter failed woefully!
But then, it’s not about how woefully you’ve failed, it’s all about how strongly you bounce back!
The same Peter bounced back so strongly he went preaching Christ to the very people before whom he denied him, just a few days earlier. He was jailed, persecuted, beaten and tortured, yet he didn’t relent. His was a tale of a great bounce back. The whole world is yet to recover from his bounce back story.
Friend, in what areas have you failed? Have you abandoned your dreams, visions and purpose just because you failed once or twice? Have you changed profession and location because of failure?
I’ve got news for you; bounce back! Recover and move on. You’re not alone; Peter has given us an example to follow! Great comebacks are only possible from great failures! Let courage rise up within you and give that dream one more shot. Invoke the power of the Holy Spirit within you. He entered Peter and reinvigorate him. Let Him do same in you.
Quit flogging yourself; don’t wallow in self-pity; pick up yourself and move on. The world is for your taking, Selah!
Love you BiG
