Genesis 7:1 “Next GOD said to Noah, “Now board the ship, you and all your family–out of everyone in this generation, you’re the righteous one.”(MSG)
Literally the whole world was doing what was wrong. But did that deter Noah from doing what was right? Not on your life!
It is very easy to do things when we have company, but the real test of character is when we have to do it all alone.
Augustine of Hippo said, “Right is right even if no one is doing it; wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it.”
Leo Tolstoy also said, “Wrong does not cease to be wrong because the majority share in it.”
Confucius added by saying, “The superior man understands what is right; the inferior man understands what will sell.”
That a lie is selling fast and everyone is buying into it doesn’t make it right!
It is easy when people give and take bribe in your office, but how easy is it for you to refuse it when offered or to stand and tell others it is wrong? It is easy when all your friends go to church and are “normal” nominal Christian, but how easy is it for you to stand up and let them know Christianity is about Christ and living the life?
It is always very easy to blend-in, and not to stand-out! Many people have blended into some cultures and behaviours of this world that they can longer figure out who they really are. Perhaps they themselves have forgotten their identity! How sad?
No wonder Paul said:
