Examples to follow-1
Philippians 3:17 “Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.” (NKJV)
Philippians 3:17 “Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal.”(MSG)
Hebrews 6:12 “That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”
In thus meditation, we shall be considering some examples as we pick one or two lessons from the lives of these folks who have gone ahead of us. The bible says they are examples and we have them for a pattern to follow.
When we say someone or something is an example, what does it mean? Let’s look at a few definitions of the word example:
An example is someone or something that is representative of all such persons or things in a group. It is also something that serves to illustrate or explain a rule. Something that serves as a pattern of behaviour to be imitated (a good example) or not to be imitated (a bad example). It could also be a person punished as a warning or deterrent to others.
It is also an instance (as a problem to be solved) serving to illustrate the rule or precept or to act as an exercise in the application of the rule.
It is only a wicked teacher that will not give you worked examples but still expect you to do well in his or her examination. Every good teacher knows that the best way to teach a student is by giving them worked examples before the actual exam comes.
Life is full of examinations, but also full of examples. The bible says:
Ecclesiastes 1:9 “The thing that hath been, it [is that] which shall be; and that which is done [is] that which shall be done: and [there is] no new [thing] under the sun.”
Nothing should therefore scares us. Every case or situation you find yourself has occurred before. Why we panic most times is that we’ve not seen the worked example.
