The Exchange-16
Hebrews 12:2 “Keep your eyes on [Jesus], who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed–that exhilarating finish in and with God–he could put up with anything along the way: cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s [there], in the place of honor, right alongside God.”(MSG)
…From yesterday…
But, friend, that was not the case. This man said he fasts at least three times a week, prays for almost six hours a day and aside that, he consults over seventy books, journals and materials to prepare for the power packed sermon!
That was breathtaking! I knew immediately that even if he lays hands, legs and his entire body on me, yes, I will contact the same grace but will still have to work his path! I will have to fast and do my own prayers too and consult journals, materials, etc on my own. This thing is not magical; it operates under the law of seed, time and harvest.
Now I understood Paul’s advice to his wonderful son Timothy:
1 Timothy 4:13 “Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”
1 Timothy 4:14 “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.”
1 Timothy 4:15 “Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.”
2 Timothy 1:6 “Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.”
Paul gave Timothy some hard truths and warnings here. Timothy was probably like most of us, looking for who would transfer grace by impartation. From the scriptures above, it was obvious that Paul laid hands on him, and he probably went for another anointing service where the Presbytery or church leaders also laid hands on him, and perhaps poured oil on him…
To be continued…
