Extra Mile-4

Matthew 5:41 “And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.”
Matthew 5:41 “And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.” (NKJV)
…From yesterday…
Jesus learnt what the pastor didn’t say on the pulpit! He did more and learnt more. As I read this passage, I kept asking myself what this young man ate and drank for three whole days. He  was in the temple listening and asking questions from the leaders, but we were not told he got up to go eat or drink. The bible didn’t tell us categorically, but I want to submit here that he never left the temple.
He was ready to give it all that it would take to learn more and standout among his peers. Most likely he had no money on him in the first place. He was ready to suppress hunger in order to learn. Just after three active days of doing more he became a wonder.
Luke 2:47 “And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.”
He astonished everyone that heard him; he stood out of the crowd. It didn’t stop there however, the end result was that he, “…increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” (Luke 2:52).
When he did the extra, he increased his knowledge base; but most importantly, he got the favour and approval of God which eventually commanded the favour of men!
God saw that little extra he added and knew he was a man that was ready to standout from the crowd and give it all that it would take, and men who mattered in his days also took knowledge of him!
Few years down the line, he taught it as a principle!
Matthew 5:41 “And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.”
Friend, stop getting mad at that your colleague that seems to always close late; stop accusing him of painting the rest of you in bad light. He knows what he is doing; he is simply standing out by doing more!
To be continued…
