Extra Mile-3
Matthew 5:41 “And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.”
Matthew 5:41 “And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.” (NKJV)
…From yesterday…
Jesus was simply saying here in our focal scripture that although it is required of you or demanded that you go a mile, which could mean close at a particular time, do a particular amount of chores, teach in school for 5 hours, coach your students for 2 hours, report to church by 5pm and so on, you can “Do More”!
Be the one in your office that hangs around till your boss closes. Be the one that is ready to coach those students till they master the concept. Be the one that resumes in church before every one else.
Yes, it’s 5pm; but be the one that resumes 4:45pm. Yes, you’re paid to do a particular volume of work, but do a little bit more!
Become the standout guy! Others will attack and accuse you, but don’t mind them; become the difference maker. It might be tedious and demanding, but guess what? You will attract the attention of the man that can promote or recommend you for promotion. People may call you the servant of the boss, but in no time your servitude will place you above them all.
Jesus tarried back in Jerusalem and learnt what his peers never learnt.
Luke 2:46 “And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.”
Jesus learnt what the pastor didn’t say on the pulpit! He did more and learnt more. As I read this passage, I kept asking myself what this young man ate and drank for three whole days. He was in the temple listening and asking questions from the leaders, but we were not told he got up to go eat or drink. The bible didn’t tell us categorically, but I want to submit here that he never left the temple.
To be continued…
