Breaking free from Madness-6
Mark 5:2 “As Jesus got out of the boat, a madman from the cemetery came up to him.”
Mark 5:3 “He lived there among the tombs and graves. No one could restrain him–he couldn’t be chained, couldn’t be tied down.” (MSG)
Mark 5:4 “Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces neither could any man tame him.”
…From yesterday…
Another thing to consider from this encounter is the fact that they bound him with chains but he kept breaking them, meaning that people rallied round to give him advice but he kept rejecting it and doing his own things. He didn’t see anything good in the advices he was offered. Hear this:
Proverbs 11:14 “Where no counsel [is], the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors [there is] safety.”
Proverbs 24:6 “For by wise counsel you can wage your war, and in an abundance of counsellors there is victory and safety.”(AMP)
Beloved, those are some heavy nuggets there! Always have it at the back of your mind that you can make do with some good counsel. The height you reached today was because you listened to some counsel along the way, why stop now? Stopping now will simply keep you stagnated in life; break free!
One other thing to look at from Mark 5:4 is the fact that the people that came round to help this guy were using chains to bind him.
This connotes the fact that they were using some physical means to solve a spiritual problem. This man’s problem is purely spiritual, not by any means physical.
2 Corinthians 4:18 “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen [are] temporal; but the things which are not seen [are] eternal.”
Beloved, one thing to note is that those issues that are keeping you down don’t have their roots in what you see.
To be continued…
