Breaking Free from Madness-2

Mark 5:2 “And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,”
Mark 5:3 “He lived there among the tombs and graves. No one could restrain him–he couldn’t be chained, couldn’t be tied down.”
Mark 5:2 “As Jesus got out of the boat, a madman from the cemetery came up to him.” (MSG)
…From yesterday…
I brought out these adjectives because many people suffer from one form of madness or the other, yet they don’t know it. I trust God that in the next few meditations we will be exposing several of them so that we can take corrections.
The truth is that a madman will never tell you he is mad. The day he knows about his condition is the day he has regained his sanity. As we consider this topic, I want you to see yourself in the light of scriptures and take corrections.
The first thing to note about this man is his house. The bible says he dwelled in the tombs and graves.
A tomb or grave is a place where dead people are kept away from the living. It is a memorial, to preserve the memory of the dead. That was the abode of this man.
What can we learn from this?
Dead people are people without any future. They have finished their assignments and are no longer relevant here on earth.
Friend, many people are literally dwelling in tombs! Their best companions are people who can no longer help them, men and women who are no longer relevant, people with old testimonies!
They are people who are still very proud of past events, past glory and even success. If a man keeps talking about past successes, chances are he’s not doing much today!
Sometimes, past success is the bane of future exploits, beware!
This man was mad because he lived in the midst of people who were no longer relevant to his destiny, people who are not in a position to help him or make him a better person. Have you checked your company of friends lately?
To be continued…
